HOW TO IDENTIFY A TIRE WEAR PROBLEM
Did you know that a tire wear pattern can tell you what is wrong with your car? 1. Unilateral wear on the inside or outside of the tire In the car, the wrong wheel alignment is the installation angles of the car wheels. Normally, they should be straight. With negative camber, the upper side of the wheels is directed inward, with positive camber, outward. 2. Bilateral wear on the outside and inside of the tire Most often associated with low tire pressure. This leads not only to increased tire wear, but also to increased fuel consumption, braking distances and handling problems. Increase the pressure to the value specified in the car's owner's manual. 3. Tire wear in the center May indicate excessive tire pressure (inflating). Check pressure and adjust according to manufacturer's recommendations. 4. Tire dents Have you noticed bumps and depressions along the edges of the tire? It's most likely a suspension issue. 5. Long diagonal dent and heavy tread wear The problem usually occurs on the rear axle of front wheel drive passenger cars that regularly carry loads in excess of their recommended load capacity. 6. Cracked tires If longitudinal cracks appear on the sidewall of the tire, it means that it has been used for a long time with insufficient pressure. Also, small cracks may appear on the tire due to its impressive service life.
