60 KM/H LIMIT ON SAIN
City police commented on the new measure on Sain Street, where speed has been limited to 60 km/h on the section from Ryskulov Avenue to Tole Bi Street (southbound). Key details: Pilot project: The measure is experimental and applies only to the single stretch with the highest accident rate. Reasons: After Sain Street was extended to Monke Bi Street, traffic increased significantly. Due to the abundance of on/off ramps and frequent lane changes (especially near the Domillion shopping center), accident-prone situations regularly occurred here. The lanes were narrowed to add a fourth lane for smoother and safer maneuvering. What about other streets? According to Saltanat Azirbek, official spokesperson for the Almaty Police Department, similar speed limits are not currently planned for other city streets. Decisions are made strictly based on accident-rate analysis for specific sections.
