NEW GROUNDS FOR LICENSE REVOCATION
Starting August 25, Kazakhstan is tightening control over drivers. First. Drivers over the age of 65 and people with disabilities will be required to undergo medical examinations on time and on a regular basis. Moreover, it is important that the results be entered into an electronic system. It will contain information both on drivers cleared to drive and on those found to have medical contraindications to driving. Second. A closed drunk-driving case will no longer help preserve a driver's license. Previously, a case could be closed without a conviction — for example, under an amnesty or due to the expiration of the statute of limitations. Now, to get their license back, such a driver will need to wait 8 years, and also retake the medical examination and pass the theoretical traffic rules exam.
