LOUD EXHAUST — ARREST?
Kazakhstan is stepping up scrutiny of car and motorcycle drivers who deliberately create excessive noise, especially at night. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 782 such cases have been recorded since the beginning of 2026, and 55 people have been placed under administrative arrest. Some cars and motorcycles were also sent to impound lots. It is important to understand that arrest is not imposed automatically for any loud noise. As the Ministry explained, only a court can make this decision, and only if the relevant article of the Code of Administrative Offenses provides for such a penalty. Each case is considered individually. Particular attention is paid to illegal vehicle modifications: changes to the exhaust system design can cause excessive noise. Tip for drivers: do not install exhaust components that are not provided for by the vehicle's design, and avoid making unnecessary noise in residential areas, especially at night.
