CARS FROM THE EAEU: CHECK THE ePTS

A car from Russia, Armenia, Belarus or Kyrgyzstan cannot always be registered in Kazakhstan simply because it is already registered in another EAEU country. Why might problems arise? To issue an electronic vehicle passport with "valid" status, the required information on the vehicle's conformity and customs declaration must be confirmed. If this information is missing or cannot be confirmed, the application may be refused. Certain categories of vehicles are also subject to restrictions on the territory where they can be operated. Before buying: - request an extract from the electronic passport; - check its status and any restrictions; - verify the VIN and the vehicle's documents; - find out in advance whether this particular car can be processed and registered in Kazakhstan. This does not mean that all cars from EAEU countries are blocked. Everything depends on the specific vehicle, its documents and the applicable restrictions. Do not transfer any money until you have checked the documents and made sure the car can be registered.
