ALMATY INTRODUCES EMISSIONS CONTROL
Starting September 1, 2026, Almaty will introduce a technical inspection of vehicles for compliance with environmental standards. What's important to know: Who does this affect? Vehicles running on gasoline, gas, and diesel fuel. What is checked? Emission levels: for gasoline and gas vehicles - exhaust toxicity, for diesel vehicles - smoke opacity. Do I need to get it done in advance? No. The requirement applies to vehicles whose next scheduled technical inspection falls after September 1, 2026; if the inspection has already been completed, its certificate remains valid until the end of its term. Where can this be done? Only at accredited stations with certified equipment. There, if desired, both the technical inspection and the environmental check can be completed. A list of stations will be published on almaty-parking.kz. Important: the environmental check does not replace the technical inspection, but without it, the next scheduled technical inspection cannot be passed.
